Freshwater Systems & Catchment Flux
Multi-decadal tracking of thermal regime shifts, active-layer thaw, and solute transport across subarctic braided river networks.
Freshwater Biogeochemistry
Principal Investigator & Senior Hydrology Fellow
Areas of focus
Dr. Elena Rostova leads the Freshwater Systems research program at CIREE. Her investigations examine how accelerating active layer thaw and anomalous precipitation patterns alter biogeochemical solute cascades in northern river networks. She holds a Ph.D. in Limnology from the University of British Columbia and previously coordinated polar hydrometric surveys with the Arctic Hydrology Consortium.
